Stewardship

Stewardship

"As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace." - 1 Peter 4:10

Stewardship: The concept is biblical, meaning one who cares for that which has been entrusted to him or her. Bishop McKnight is calling on all of the men and women of this diocese to open their hearts, minds and hands to this co-responsibility. To date, amongst the four parishes pastored by Fr. Bill, a stewardship committee has been formed and has begun meeting to fulfill this mission as outlined by our Bishop.

During Lent 2023, we will begin meeting in small groups throughout the four parishes to do the first 6 week study of the 12 week plan. The second 6 weeks will be during Advent 2023.

During the study, your group will follow a guide entitled “Grateful Living, the Joy of Stewardship” which is meant to call each one of us to the role of building stewardship within our parishes that reaches far beyond our property lines and far beyond simply maintaining those properties.  Though important, there’s so much more we as a church can be doing and are responsible for doing as stewards.

Someone from the committee may be reaching out in the coming months to invite you to potentially lead a small group during Lent. Please consider this role and who your group would encompass and where you’d like to meet. There will be no limit on how many groups can form, we need to hear input from everybody. How can we as a church better serve God’s people entrusted to each of us?

The greatest boom and most growth in the Catholic Church in the United States was during the Great Depression, we were a church of the poor. Orphanages, hospitals, seminaries, convents, soup kitchens and homeless shelters were founded by the church from coast to coast and all were full. Since then, we’ve become a church of wealth and have lost our focus on the very core of our mission as God’s church. We look forward to moving ahead with each of you as we pray for direction and inspiration.
